What Should Happen First Before Erika’s Rematch?
- Defeat Erika in the Celadon City Gym first.
- Progress the story up to the sixth Gym (Koga in Fuchsia City).
- Have a rematch with the first 3 Gym Leaders first (Brock, Misty, and Lt. Surge).
- Head to Celadon City Gym to start the rematch with Erika.
When you’re about to engage Erika for the rematch, she will tell you that she can’t battle you yet. Her Gloom is sick, so you have to do something about that.
How to Help Erika’s Gloom in Pokemon Radical Red
Step 1: Head to Fuchsia City
Step 2: Head to the Pokemon Zoo
Go to the Pokemon Zoo in the upper left corner.
Step 3: Talk to the Woman
Talk to the woman NPC in the image below. She’ll give you the medicine item, and you’re done here.
Step 4: Head Back to Erika and Challenge Her
Go back to Erika with the medicine, and she’ll fight you again.
Do I Need to Do This?
You will need to do this because when you reach Koga’s Gym, you cannot fight him right away. The game will tell you to rematch the previous Gym Leaders.
Whether you like it or not, you will need to help Erika’s Gloom.
She will reward you with an Ogerpon Pokemon and the TM86 Grass Knot. Another important thing to note is that if you want to go to the Sevii Islands, a rematch with Erika is one of the requirements to do so.
