How to Get Diancie in Pokemon X and Y

Diancie was originally obtainable through a limited-time event in 2014.

The event was a Mystery Gift distribution that served as a promotion tied to the franchise’s newest flick at that time, Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.

During the event, players can visit participating stores like GameStop to get a code or receive it via email.

If you’ve been playing Pokemon X and Y during this time but never redeemed Diancie or you’re not sure if you have it in your game, here’s how you can check it:

  • Open Pokémon X or Y on your 3DS.
  • Open Mystery Gift in the main menu.
  • Go to Check the Card Album.
  • If you redeemed the event, you should see a Diancie event card in your album.
  • If you haven’t claimed the gift yet, go to any Pokémon Center in the game and speak to the delivery girl on the left side to receive your Diancie.

As of date, there are no announcements from Nintendo to bring back Diancie or any other related events.

So, is there any possible way to get a Diancie in Pokemon X and Y today?

Getting Diancie Through Trading

Since the event is long gone, the only legitimate way to obtain a Diancie in Pokemon X and Y is through trading.

You can look for Diancie trainers in the Global Trade System, your local players, or online communities like Reddit and Pokemon groups and forums.

  • Connect your 3DS to the internet and open Pokemon X and Y
  • Go to the GTS (Global Trade System).
  • Search for Diancie or create a trade if you have something valuable to offer (e.g. another Mythical or Legendary Pokémon).

Transferring Diancie from Pokemon ORAS to X and Y

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were Gen 6 remakes of the original Gen 3 games and mega evolution was a huge part of these remakes. That’s why they promoted this new battle mechanic through special events such as the Diancie event.

This event also gave players the chance to get Diancite, Diancie’s Mega Stone, which allows it to turn into Mega Diancie. This isn’t available in Pokemon X and Y, but if you have a Diancie in ORAS, you can transfer it to X and Y along with the Diancite.

Here’s how:

  • Pokémon Bank on your 3DS. It’s like a PC that you can access across different Pokemon games.
  • Deposit Diancie from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire/Sun/Moon into the Pokémon Bank.
  • Switch to Pokémon X or Y and withdraw Diancie from the bank.

Getting Diancie Through Giveaways

Though this is rare, some communities or online events may host giveaways. These giveaways might have a slim chance of letting you get a Diancie.

Given that Pokemon X and Y are already a decade old, these events are highly unlikely.

About Diancie

Diancie is a Rock/Fairy Type Pokemon first introduced in Generation 6. It’s a Mythical Pokemon that is a standalone Pokemon in its evolution line.

Diancie is known as the Jewel Pokemon due to the gems it has all over its body and according to its lore, it can create diamonds by compressing air between its hands.

Being a Mythical Pokemon, Diancie is not obtainable through normal means and is only available during special events, making it a perfect symbol of rarity and exclusivity.

In its normal form, Diancie is mediocre when it comes to battling.

Diancie Base Stats

  • HP: 50
  • Attack: 100
  • Defense: 150
  • Special Attack: 100
  • Special Defense: 150
  • Speed: 50

But when it gets its Diancite and mega evolves, everything changes.

Mega Diancie Stats

  • HP: 50 (unchanged)
  • Attack: 160
  • Defense: 110
  • Special Attack: 160
  • Special Defense: 110
  • Speed: 110

After mega-evolving, it turns into a lethal mixed attacker with great speed while retaining its awesome defense.

Diancie Moveset

Diancie, with its Rock/Fairy dual-typing, is a solid choice for battling. These are the most notable moves that this Pokemon can learn:

  • Diamond Storm (Rock-type): Diancie’s exclusive Rock-type move that deals damage and can increase its defense.
  • Moonblast (Fairy-type): A powerful Fairy-type special attack with a chance to lower the opponent’s Special Attack. This is perfect against other special attackers slower than Diancie.
  • Calm Mind: A setup move that increases its Special Attack, making it more lethal.
  • Stealth Rock: Diancie can also set up hazards in the battlefield
  • Protect/ Light Screen/ Reflect: Defensive moves that increase your team’s tankiness.
