Before Going to Sevii Islands, Finish the Game First!

You are still required to beat the game first by defeating the Elite Four and the Champion.

Once you have a Hall of Fame team, you can now do the requirements to get the Tri-, which is what you need to access the Sevii Islands.

How to Access the Sevii Islands in Pokemon Radical Red

There are several battles that you need to do to access the Sevii Islands:

IMPORTANT: Even before you finish the game, you can access some of the battles beforehand. This means that when you’ve already finished some of these battles, they already count. You don’t need to fight these battles again.

Talk With the Woman on Route 16

The battles you already completed will no longer be mentioned by the woman. She will be a good aide if you want to know where to go.

Listed below are the battles that you need to do to get the Tri-.

Rematch With the Kanto Gym Leaders

Go and rematch the first 4 Gym Leaders in Kanto. If you don’t do it right away, Gym Leader Koga will not be accessible yet and will tell you that you need to rematch the previous Gym Leaders.

All of them are still found in their Gyms but are now armed with stronger Pokemon. They will reward you with some juicy items upon defeat.

Pryce

The Two Dumbass Trainers

There are two trainers having the Dumbass title. The woman on Route 16 will tell you to fight them.

Dumbass Kid

Dumbass Jojo Fan

This one is located in the Power Plant. There’s no puzzle to this fight, so just say yes, and he’ll battle you right away.
You’ll be rewarded with a Machampite and Prison Bottle for all your efforts.

Morty and the Gengarite

This is another requirement that you need to fulfill. The woman in Route 16 will tell you to go back to Morty to get a Gengarite.

When you get back to Morty in Mr. Fuji’s House in Lavender Town, he’ll simply ask you to show him a Pokemon with high enough Friendship/Happiness.

Morty will give you the Gengarite, and you’re good to go.

Heading to the Sevii Islands

Riding the ferry to the sevii islands

Once all the battles are finished and you have the Gengarite, the woman in Route 16 will give you the Tri-.

Head to Vermillion City and talk to the sailor where the SS Anne used to be. You will then have access to Islands One to Three.

Choose to go to any of them, as you now have access to the Sevii Islands.

IMPORTANT: Right now, there are only three islands to explore because the game doesn’t contain the others. If you haven’t completed the main story yet, even if you have the Tri-, you won’t be able to access the Sevii Islands just yet.

In Closing

Getting to the Sevii Islands in Pokemon Radical Red does take some time.

These trainer battles are no joke, as they are armed to the teeth and will offer challenges. There’s no need to rush as well, since you still have to beat the main game.

It’s beneficial if you can fight and beat them ahead. The items they give can be useful to some degree.

Pokemon Radical Red has been completed, but who knows, maybe they’ll add the other Sevii Islands in the future.
