What to Do After Beating The Champion in Pokemon Emerald: Post-game Bucket List
1. Battle Frontier

One of Hoenn’s most notable additions is the Battle Frontier. After beating the champion, you will receive an invitation to visit this massive battling facility.
If you want to test your skills and strategy even further, the Battle Frontier is the perfect place to do just that.
Battle Frontier Facilities
- Battle Tower: Face trainers that grow increasingly stronger as you go up the floors.
- Battle Dome: Participate in a tournament-style challenge with knockout rounds where you can scout your opponents before battling.
- Battle Factory: Try out your resourcefulness and quick-thinking abilities with rental Pokemon battles.
- Battle Arena: Pit two Pokemon against each other for three rounds.
- Battle Pike: Make it through a maze filled with trainers and Pokemon, and your choice of doors will decide your next opponent.
- Battle Palace: If you like the Verdanturf Battle Tent, this is exactly like that. Put your trust in your Pokemon as they choose their own moves.
- Battle Pyramid: This dungeon crawl features rooms shrouded in darkness where there’s no other way out but to push your way through every trainer.
Participating in the events at the Battle Frontier rewards you with Battle Points (BP), and you can exchange them for rare items and TM.
2. Catching Legendary Pokemon

Beating Wallace will open up new doors to the most powerful and elusive Pokemon in the game—the Legendaries.
After becoming the champion, you can now hunt many Legendaries. Pokemon Emerald is one of the best when it comes to these godlike Pokemon.
Rayquaza
Pokemon Emerald’s cover features the legendary dragon that quelled the fight between Kyogre and Groudon, Rayquaza.
This Pokemon waits at the top of the Sky Pillar on Route 131. After a perilous climb over crumbling floors, you’ll find this majestic green dragon ready for a glorious battle.

The Regi Trio
Regirock, Regice, and Registeel are Hoenn’s elemental titans. These Legendary Pokemon are not easy to capture.
First, you need to unlock the Sealed Chamber by solving the Braille puzzles in the currents near Pacifidlog Town.
After that requirement has been met, you have to embark on a journey to the desert ruins, island cave, and ancient tomb to catch them in their own rooms, where they lie in deep slumber.
Preparation, puzzle-solving skills, and a stacked team are needed to catch all three Regis.
Groudon and Kyogre
One of the main reasons why I prefer Pokemon Emerald over Ruby and Sapphire is the fact that you can catch the weather trio in this version.
Unlike Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire where Groudon and Kyogre are exclusive to only one version, you can catch them all in Pokemon Emerald after beating the champion.
To catch Kyogre, you need to go to the Weather Institute and talk to the same person who gave you Castform. He will inform you about some routes having heavy rain, and you have to explore them.
Dive into one of the deep areas and you’ll find the Marine Cave, where Kyogre awaits.
On the other hand, if you want to catch Groudon, talk to the guy during the day and he will tell you about areas with harsh sunlight. Go there, and you’ll find an area called Terra Cave where you can capture Groudon.
Deoxys
Deoxys was once catchable through a limited-time event. This otherworldly legendary Pokemon was once a part of the Birth Island event but is now unavailable.

Latios and Latias
This is where I usually save my Master Ball, since Latios and Latias are the most broken sweepers in the game. They are also one of the most elusive and hardest to catch.
Sadly, you need to choose only one Eon Pokemon to track: Latios (blue) or Latias (red). I always go for Latios because of his better offense.
3. Completing the Pokedex

Since Generation 1, the goal has always been catching ‘em all.
Completing your Pokedex in Pokemon Emerald after defeating the champion is a great goal. To achieve this, you need to visit areas you may have missed during your journey and evolve Pokemon you haven’t ed yet.
Make sure you utilize the PokeDex’s Area feature to find different species easily. You can also trade with Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, and LeafGreen to fill your Pokedex.
4. Train a Competitive Team

After becoming a champion, you are the strongest trainer in the story. But if you haven’t faced a single real-life trainer, then you might start to question your own credentials.
Pokemon Emerald has a great competitive battling experience with more balanced gameplay than Generation 2.
Training your competitive team includes more than just leveling them up to 100.
No, you’ll have to train their EVs, breed the best Pokemon with the right nature and IVs, perfect their movesets, look for the best held item, and more. This is my favorite part of playing any Pokemon game.
Conclusion
Now you know what to do after beating the champion in Pokemon Emerald. Beating the Elite Four and Wallace is no easy task, but it’s far from the end of your Pokemon Emerald journey.
There’s still a lot to explore, tons to be tried, and endless things to do. So get out there and fully experience everything that Hoenn has to offer.
To sum everything up, here is a list of everything that you can do post-game in the game:
- Battle Frontier
- Capturing the Hoenn Legendaries
- Completing the Pokedex
- Building the strongest Pokemon team
